How we handle the details you share with us.

What we collect

When you request a consult. The form asks for your name and email, your student's grade, your main goal and how you heard about us, plus anything you choose to add. You can also tick a box to get our monthly email.

With the form we also send three details about how you first found our site, which your browser keeps for 30 days: the campaign tags on the link you followed (for example, which post or video it came from), the first page you visited, and the website that sent you (only its address, such as google.com). They describe the link, not you, and they leave your browser only if you send the form.

When you browse. Google Analytics records the pages you view and a few actions, such as tapping “Book a consult” or sending the form, along with your type of device and browser, your approximate location (such as your city or region) and how you arrived. It never receives what you type into the form. Google Analytics doesn't log or store IP addresses.

When you book a call or email us. What you send us: your name, email and the time you choose on our booking page, and anything you write.

How we use it

• To reply to you within one business day, arrange the consult and keep a record of our conversation.
• To count, without names, which grades, goals and channels bring families to us, so we know where our time helps most.
• To send the monthly email with SAT dates and planning tips, only if you tick the box. Asking for a consult never signs you up, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

We don't sell your information, share it for advertising, or use advertising pixels.

Cookies and your browser

• Our site keeps the first-visit details described above in your browser's local storage for 30 days.
• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don't load Google Analytics at all. You can also block cookies in your browser's settings or install Google's opt-out add-on. The older Do Not Track setting doesn't change anything on this site.

How long we keep it

• Inquiries: in HubSpot for up to two years after our last conversation if your family doesn't enroll, then deleted.
• Families who enroll: for as long as we work together, and up to three years after for our business and tax records.
• The monthly email: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your address and the fact that you unsubscribed, so we never email you again by mistake.
• Google Analytics: 14 months, then deleted automatically.
• First-visit details in your browser: 30 days.

Your choices

• See, correct or delete your details. Email hello@thelighthouseprep.com from the address you used, or tell us which one, and we'll do it within 30 days. We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as a record of a payment.
• Stop the monthly email with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.
• Turn off analytics with Global Privacy Control, your browser's cookie settings or Google's opt-out add-on.

Students and children

This website and the consult form are for parents and guardians. Our services are for students 13 and older, with a parent's consent. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child under 13 has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS, only the two founders' accounts can see inquiries, and we use the security features of the services we rely on. No system is perfectly secure, so if something ever goes wrong that affects your details, we'll tell you promptly.

Changes and questions
